JUSTICE FOR FAISAL: AN END TO POLICE BRUTALITY IN CAMBRIDGE

  • Faisal was experiencing a mental health crisis, and a 911 call was placed hoping Faisal will be helped. Instead, the police chased and shot Faisal.

  • Faisal possessed no firearms, and â€‹4 to 5 CPD officers were present on scene.

​

  • According to a witness interview, Faisal did not approach the officers prior to the shooting. 

​

  • Available CCTV footage shows that Faisal was harming only himself with a knife and posed no threat to anybody else. CPD has failed to provide a reasonable explanation for the use of lethal force.   â€‹

  • CPD refuses to release the names of the officers involved in the shooting.

​

  • CPD placed the officer who shot Faisal on paid leave.

Arif Sayed Faisal, a 20 year old UMass Boston student, was killed by a Cambridge police officer on January 4th 2023.
